Overview
The IPNote.ir Chrome extension (Manifest V3) helps you inspect IP and network information
for websites you visit. This policy describes what the extension stores and transmits.
Data we process
- Lookups you request — IP addresses or hostnames you enter or select are sent to the IPNote.ir API to return results.
- Active tab hostname — used only for “this site” features and the optional country badge; full browsing history is not collected.
- Account (optional) — if you sign in, authentication tokens and account-related API calls use your IPNote.ir identity.
- Local settings — API URL, language, theme, and privacy preferences are stored in
chrome.storage.local on your device.
- Paranoid mode — when enabled, recent lookups are kept on your device only and are not synced to the server.
What we do not do
- No sale of personal data to third parties
- No advertising or cross-site tracking
- No execution of remote code — all extension scripts are bundled; API responses are JSON data only
- No third-party CDNs in the extension package
Permissions
- storage — settings and optional auth tokens
- tabs — active tab URL hostname for site intelligence
- contextMenus — right-click lookup actions you initiate
- host_permissions — HTTPS calls to IPNote.ir API origins you configure
